 The Cops & Kids concept was born in New York City, rooted in a simple but powerful idea, building trust between law enforcement and youth through positive, shared experiences. At a time when relationships between police and communities were often strained, forward-thinking officers and community leaders recognized that meaningful engagement outside of enforcement settings was key to long-term change. 

 In NYC, programs under the Cops & Kids umbrella brought young people and police officers together through mentorship, sports, education, and cultural activities. These initiatives helped humanize both sides—allowing officers to be seen as mentors and role models, and giving youth an opportunity to be heard, guided, and empowered.

 DJ Ace - The Cut Lieutenant has been DJing for 35 years. He started DJing at the age of 10 on his mother’s compact stereo. Growing up, U.T.F.O.’s hit song, Roxanne Roxanne and the movie Beat Street (1984) sparked Ace’s interest 

in pursing a career as a professional DJ.

The DJ's that influenced him the most were: Jam Master Jay, DJ Cheese, Mixmaster Ice, DJ Scratch, Cash Money, Jazzy Jeff, Funk Master Flex, Marley Marl, Red Alert, Richie Rich, Tony Touch, and DJ Premier.
